My love of couture and vintage style collided this week with Paris Couture Week. It’s a world that I’ll never (not ever!) belong to, but I adore it for its inspiration, day dreaming and fantasy.
The clothes (if you can call them that) are magical and conjure up childhood fairytales, where the world is awash with tulle, embellishments, silks, lace and of course, princesses.
The looks for the 2016 Fall Paris Couture Week varied from punk-rock chic and vintage-inspired majesty to full-on Cleopatra-like styles. If you’re like me, you’ll be motivated to update your own wardrobe and maybe put the jeans aside for a day (or two).
To get the look of beautiful, handcrafted, individual clothes look no further than vintage. Think vintage wedding veils made from the softest tulle and antique lace, 1940’s piano shawls that are swimming in silk fringing and embroidery, pretty 50’s prom dresses and rich silk velvet’s.
